Sudden Crash

This video shows a sudden drop of the drone to a parking lot. Camera stays on, records before, during, after, and the propellers spun with it in my hand afterwards.
It is a Holt Stone HS100, maybe 25 minutes for me as a pilot, very much the newbie.

No apparent reason, drone shuts off, plenty of battery (3/4). the flight was under four minutes, from the video. At around 2:50 it just falls to the ground. I even used the joy stick to reconnect after. Camera came off, but works. Bent one propeller and guard, they are OK now. I put velcro over the battery on the outside to make sure that, if it was the battery, it cannot back out again, and I will make sure it is clicked completely into place. One forum said "loss of communication"..........but nothing says they crash when that happens, they just do what they want. Another thing someone said is that I held the "emergency button down" for four seconds (the auto land and auto takeoff button), but I tried to even do that with the heel of my hand and it is loud to hear the click of the button and my hands are too small to even reach that button with my heel, even holding the remote control vertical while I talk. I tried to push it with the heel of my hand and I could not do it, let alone hold it down for four seconds. Lastly, I had the guy in the beard looking at my video feed on my phone and maybe he hit something? But what can one hit to make it just drop and not lose power to the video camera? LED lights were all flashing as well until I reconnected, while it was on the ground.

If this is a typical thing, I do not want a drone.

Thanks for any help.

No. A most emphatic "No".
Drone just don't drops from the sky.
I, myself, is a newbie (about 3 months experience). I have about 10 drones, 2 of which are by Holy Stone. They are toy drones, by the way.
None of my drones have ever dropped from the sky. I have numerous crashes, but that was my "newbie mistakes".

Holy Stone appears to be very helpful in their Support department.
Why don't you contact them?
If you bought that drone directly from Holy Stone, you stand a good chance for a new one or refund.

Yeah, I emailed them and plan to call today. I bought it on ebay, unfortunately.

Thanks for the answer, it was helpful.

OK. I shall try. Thanks.

Response from Holy Stone this AM, I responded back already. Apparently math is not their strong subject.:

"Dear Bob

Thank you for contacting us. This is Angelina from Holy Stone Customer Support. We sincerely apologize for your inconvenience.

Will you please help me confirm some information:
1.Did the drone hit something before?
2.What was the color of drone lights when it drop?
4.Was there any note on your APP page when it drop?
5.Was the drone under GPS mode when it fallen down?
7.Where did you fly your drone? Was there any buildings, tall trees or signal tower? Have you tried to fly somewhere else?
8. Is it the first time to fly? Was it normal before?
9. How many times did you use the drone? Is it like this every time?
10.Are all the propellers spinning at same speed?

Does the drone still work now?

Also, Would you plz provide your order number from Amazon so that we can follow up on your issue?

We look forward to your reply.

Best regards,
Angelina

With the questions they kept really makes you wonder how bad 3 and 6 must have been :D . Maybe the follow ups just weren't worthy of their place in the list who knows?

Would be curious if you checked the battery voltage after landing or are trusting an app telling you the battery charge state, in general agree with what's been said so far though not a thing that should happen out of no-where. I'm troubleshooting my own issues with a suicidal/homicidal quad right now too but been flying for a while so know fixing things does come with the territory, but shouldn't be the out of the box experience.

Well, I am in touch with them, they said they will take car of me. Next test is Friday.

Battery was about 3/4 from the blue lights and the fact that it only charged for about a half hour an was all blue lights after that. I did not use the app, just for my friend to hold the phone and live view it for me. I told them I do not want a drone if some sort of interference can turn it off. That would be out of my control to stop, not knowing the source especially.
