Quad Control problems.

Hi,

Im a complete newbie, and instead of buying a quad I went all out to build one. The quad is built but Im needing help with what I believe to be transmitter setup.

The quad components:
Turnigy D2836/8 1100KV Motors
Turnigy Plush 30amp ESC's
Hobbyking kk2.1.5 flight control board
Turnigy 6xs transmitter with Turnigy XR 7000s receiver.

Iv set the flight controller up for X configuration and all motors and props are going in the correct direction as per the boards display, However the quad is uncontrollable.

Without making any trimming adjustments the board receiver test is displaying when all the thumb sticks are in the idle/neutral position:
Aileron:18 Right
Elevator:19 Back
Throttle:0 Idle
Rudder:1
Aux: No signal

I have tried sub trimming on the transmitter to zero these to see:
Aileron:0
Elevator:0
Throttle:0 Idle
Rudder:0
Aux: No signal
When the thumb sticks are in the idle/neutral position.

However as I increase the throttle to 50% I see:
Aileron:-16 Left
Elevator:-16 Forward
Throttle:49
Rudder:0
Aux: No signal

And as I increase the throttle to 100% I see:
Aileron:-63 Left
Elevator:-63 Forward
Throttle:100
Rudder:0
Aux: No signal

Im under the impression that when I engage throttle, only the throttle should move, instead of sending my off in all directions. The Turnigy 6xs does not have a quadcopter model setting, only helicopter, plane, v-tail and delta.

Can someone help me out please..

On that radio, select 'plane' or 'airplane' mode! It does no mixing according to the manual, page 6. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uploads/137920662X387078X43.pdf
You can see on page 5 (labeled 4) in the manual above that 1-4 are Aileron (roll), Elevator (pitch), Throttle & Rudder (yaw). Obviously you want to wire the receiver to the controller so the expected functions are connected to the right inputs. On the KK2, that is the same order as above, from top to bottom along the left side of the controller http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uploads/837610043X307967X57.pdf

Try 'airplane' mode and see how that works. Be sure you're connecting the functions through to the correct inputs. And don't forget to calibrate your ESCs.
Your KK2 manual also describes an ESC calibration procedure on page 4. I'd do the "straight to receiver" calibration first and see how that goes, then proceed to the KK2 ESC calibration if you like.

Hi mate it is very important to have the quad on a level surface , then the kk will need to be calibrated and it will also do a sensor test and that should all come back as ok , if not then you have a problem on the board , part of the sensor test will set up the kk for self levelling this is why it must be level , like Hugh said set transmitter up as a plane the kk board does all the work , you said motors spin the right way make sure blades are right way up and right way round , this is an easy mistake , on the kk there is a monitor screen and this allows you to check all the sticks commands are the right way round , there is a link that you may find helpful the guys do a complete build and set up of a 450 frame and kk2.0

It's also easy to install props upside down. If you look at a prop, from the tip towards the center hub, the bottom should be curved so that when it is spinning, it scoops the air and forces it down. Unless you look for that curve, it's easy to install them wrong, or worse yet, install just one or two of them wrong.

Thanks for the comments, I changed it to plane as hugh said and tweeked it abit and finally have it flying and quads are awesome! It was getting frustrating when it was uncontrollable so I thank you for your help!
