Proper storage of a 4S LiPo (Lithium Polymer) battery is crucial for maintaining its longevity and performance. Here are the steps to store it correctly:
- Store the battery at approximately 50% to 60% of its full charge, which is about 3.7 to 3.85 volts per cell. For a 4S battery, this means a total voltage of 14.8 to 15.4 volts.
- Store the battery in a cool, dry environment. The ideal storage temperature is between 10°C to 25°C (50°F to 77°F). Avoid storing the battery in places where temperatures can fluctuate drastically or exceed this range.
- Store the battery in a LiPo-safe storage bag or a fireproof container. This reduces the risk of damage in case of accidental swelling or leakage.
- Periodically (every few months), check the voltage of the battery to ensure it remains within the storage range. If the voltage drops too low, recharge it back to the storage voltage.
