Out with the old problem, in with the new

Alright, so in a previous thread, it was discovered I immediately fried my new TBS Unify nano by wiring it to my lipo pad. Ordered a new one (had already ordered it before the recommendation against that one by RenOv8r, otherwise woulda reconsidered against it). Wired it up to my 5v pad this time and all is good as far as power. Also unlocked it.
Now the problem is I'm getting no video. I understand that can be a variety of things, but hopefully someone can narrow it down for me. Everything is wired right. FC 5v to vtx 5v in, neg to neg, FC vtx pad to vtx video in, and Smartaudio to uart. I'm getting a black screen with no betaflight logo at powerup and no OSD. Goggle reciever is picking up signal. I can see a lil flickering as I surf channels. Any idea where to start looking. Seems my video isnt making it past my flight controller. TIA

Just a couple things. Firstly, you didn't mention you camera wiring. The video wire on the camera should go to the video in pad on your flight controller, and video out on your flight controller goes to video in on your vtx. If this is correct, then the other thing to check is have you enabled OSD in the configuration tab of Betaflight.

Yes, sorry. Forgot to mention my cameras pigtail is soldered correctly to fc. Everything's the same as before when I flew it, except vtx is going to 5v pad instead. Also didnt mention I connected a different camera to it, and it didnt work either, hopefully eliminating the camera being the problem.

I was reading about the nano that using smartaudio requires 3.3v logic level for the uart (I don't really understand and probably have that wrong).
Try it with SA disconnected. The fix was a resistor between the ground and signal. I followed a trail from the TBS manual to that info.
Hope it helps.

My next step would be to bypass the flight controller and connect your camera directly to the vtx. If you get video (which I suspect you will), at least it will narrow down the issue

Just tried that and now my vtx isnt powering on. It's getting hot as hell quick though

I'm a bit over these TBS nanos. That was my third one, albeit my error on at least 2 of the 3. Ordered a Unify HV this time. Still would like to know what happened with this last one though.
