One Rotor a little tight - Is that OK?

Hello all,

I'm a noob to the hobby and the forum. I just got the UDI u818a. An inexpensive one for me to learn on. This is my second. The first is at the bottom of a lake. All is going well... 10 flights so far... but out of the box, one of the rotors doesn't spin as well as the others. I examined the rotors carefully. The three that spin freely have a bit more tolerance between gears than this one. It's just a millimeter closer than the others.

I don't see a way of adjusting it but it flies just fine. The battery life seems ok.
Is this something I should address? Will it affect the copter over time. My worry is that the motor will burn out.

Any thoughts?

BTW: if you consider this copter be aware the exposed gears are a problem with sand. I've had to take toothpick and nick out grains after a landing.

Hi mate it should not be tight as you say the motor can wear faster also gears will wear ,I dont know if you can remove motor and open up screw holes a little to get motor back a little , the toy quads are a bit of a pain you get good ones and bad ones

You should deffinetly address it. The pinion and spur gear NEED to run free. Tight is not good.

I'd try what holtneil suggested . Make sure and oval the hole just a few thousands and then try.
A small drill bit held it your hand would work fine , no power tools needed.

Sand / Water is not good for these..... fly over a field ??

Thanks. There's very little options here. the seat is the seat. I am trying to spin the motor slightly to find a better position. I suspect I will have to live with it. I understand its a toy copter and hope to get my chops up on it before it wears down.

As far as sand.... My first two open flights were on baseball field(sandy infield) and a golf course(sandy cart path). The copter seems to have a natural attraction to landing in those areas... as well as trees and bodies of water.

Thanks for the advice!
