Needed .... Crash proof camera gimbal

DuaneM

Drone? I don't see any drone ... crap!
Is there such a thing?

I crash a lot during my testing of my drone builds. When I think I have the drone just right, I add the camera gimbal and somehow do something (crash, battery life estimation, ESC cut offs, thinking I know what I'm doing, general mayhem) that ends the life of yet another of the cheap Chinese camera gimbals I get from ebay.

I'm ready to step up to a good and expensive camera gimbal, but I want one that can take a hit or several without turning into just another addition to the parts bin.

Does anyone know if they exist and where I could buy one?

These are multirotors, nothing's crashproof! How much do you want to spend? What type of camera will you be using? What will you be using it on? Do you want 2-axis or 3-axis gimbal?

Well I have about $400.00 (as it sits, not including all the replaced crash items) worth of parts on this DIY drone I wanted to use for aerial work, trying to make it autonomous as well. It's probably not possible and everyone says to just buy a RTF drone with everything on it already.

I think I'd be better off making a cage or thick clear plastic dome around it under the craft, but then there's the weight problem, and so on and so on ...
