I have an older IdeaFly iFly 4S Quad that when I bought it, I could not also purchase the optional GPS/Compass Module. It was a “closeout” when Global Distributing / Hobby People went out of business. I believe they were the exclusive importer for the US as IdeaFly has disappeared since, though they are still in business in Shenzhen (although the jerks refuse to answer Emails or Msg requests for help, advice or a offer to buy a GPS module via their Facebook site.)
Anyways, I’ve flown the iFly 4S numerous times w/o GPS, it’s a “heavy lift” powerful quad quite capable of carrying my Canon 14mp Sureshot Digital camera or a compact 1024p Camcorder. BUT I want to have the GPS/Compass capability as the C6W flight controller has waypoint, altitude hold and auto return built-in when GPS /Compass is attached. The problem is, since IdeaFly refuses to answer, I have no idea who made the GPS/Compass module they had integrated.
I have found photo’s of the internal GPS/Compass processor they used (Cirocomm L 0050) but I can’t find these available to buy. Of all the GPS/Compass modules I found to buy, only one (Ublox 7M ) had the correct number of wires (6) that the unit the iFly 4S had (6); however the connectors are different, the number of wires going to each connector is wrong (4 to one and 2 to the other connector, instead of 3 and 3)) and some of wires are a different color code. So, I have no clue which color-coded wire goes where when I make new connectors to the ports on the Flight Controller.
The GPS/Compass module I bought, HP NEO-7M Ublox 7M, is meant for the APM2.6, APM2.8 Pixhawk PX4 Flight Controller. For all I know the IdeaFly C6W FC is a private labeled Pixhawk, a DJI clone, or some other .
That is the Expert help I need, no amateurs need apply advice. I need someone(s) that are VERY familiar with this sort of adapting of dissimilar components (if they are and if they are compatible). The other problem I have is that I have no clue who actually made the C6W Flight Controller that IdeaFly used, I seriously doubt that they engineered and made it themselves (they were too small and no DJI level UAV company). We all also know that in China companies private label
for others and that they backwards engineer (steal) from each other as much as they steal from the US and Europe engineered electronics.
I’ve attached some photos of the IdeaFly C6W FC and it’s OEM paired GPS/Compass module closed and open for comparison, and a photo of the HP NEO-7M Ublox 7M (Black module)
Greatly appreciate all the help in adapting this module to the C6W FC, if it’s possible. I’m retired so money’s tight and if I can adapt it greatly helps.
Thanks
These 3pics are the OEM GPS/Compass module shown with C6W FC. Inside the GPS module - Chip used. GPS module with LED Calibration light and C6W.

These 2 pics are the HP NEO-7M Ublox 7M GPS I bought hoping to adapt to the C6W FC. GPS chip is a different brand. Is it compatible?
