Hello -
I am pretty new to building my own quads. I have a X9D Radio along with a X8R7-II Receiver on a home built quad. The Flight controller is a NAZE32 (something). I use baseflight configurator.
I do NOT have a GPS unit on this quad (YET - that is another part of this question). To get a better understanding of what I have:
Naze32 controller
X8R7-II Receiver
X9D Radio
FatShark FPV system
250 Frame
And of course motors and esc's
battery
I have a VERY generic setting on the FC. I use BaseFlight to configure it. I am not sure if this configuration can do what I am trying to do.
Right now, let's just say the quad is a challenge for me to control. Several times I have attempted to go forward and well, the copter does several flips and crashes. Very amusing - but props are getting expensive
I really should video it and share for amusement! BUT, I am wondering, is there a way to configure a switch on the Radio to bring this beast down to something a little more manageable.
I have been reading a lot about the Horizon mode or the mode that allows you to control the copter but it won't let it actually do a flip. I have also been reading several discussions about what type of mode you want to learn to fly in. So, here is my intent and desire.
Program one of the switches that has three positions in it possibly to choose different flight modes.
Default position is a pretty restricted flight mode which will allow control of the copter but safely. (not sure what to call this) and has self leveling.
Program the middle position of the switch to what I believe is called Horizon. It is a little more free configuration which the copter will do flips if the sticks are moved all the way to the extreme. Also has self leveling
Program the final switch position to the way the copter is currently configured - TOTAL BEAST mode. I mean, if I engage the throttle all the way - this thing punches a whole in the sky in a split second it will be fun once I learn and have the room to fly it like that but I also want to be able to fly it around our neighborhood.
Any assistance in this would be fantastic.
like I said, I have read and watched (mainly Painless 360) and still not understanding the process ;(
Okay Okay - stop laughing
(well, at least do it quietly
)
Thanks!
