Motor exploded?

After successfully flashing 3 of my AFRO ESC 30A to have I2C addresses 0x50, 0x51, 0x52, 0x53, I tried detecting the I2C addresses, it came up with 0x29 0x2A 0x77 and something else which is very strange. While being dumbfounded by the new address assignments, suddenly the motor popped and smoke came out. I immediately disconnected the power. What could have caused this? Faulty ESC?

You could have flashed them with the wrong firmware. I read that this was causing all kinds of issues, but I thought it was popping the escs and not the motors.

Are your nfet? I made sure when flashing mine that I used the nfet version, and all was good.

I made have made a mistake, a couple times I tried to flash but it was timing out on me. I closed and opened the flashing program a couple of times, so I might have chosen the wrong firmware by accident. But it seems like the burned out part of the FET of the ESC was where i saw a small notch on the FET before. So it's possible there was damage to the FET prior to the problem. It seems like only the burned out FET on the ESC is the problem, can I replace it with a new FET or is it not worth the time and that I should just buy a new ESC and motor cause of convenience and to be sure?

Try a new fet, I have been known to rob parts off one ESC to see if it fixes the one with a problem. If it does not your not out any money. Just be sure your comfortable enough with soldering and desoldering.
