I just bought a Cheerson CX20 Open source Auto-pathfinder (Mode 1) Before I bought it I watched many videos on you tube. I looked the manual that came with it but the instructions seems to only apply for (Mode 2). Before I fly it,I have read that the compass needs to be calibrated first. could any one advise me on the correct procedure on How to calibrate a (Mode 1) Cx20. I don't want to fly it without calabration .
Any help would be much appreciated
thank you

They will be the same, just take a look at this as the controls are different.

Mode 2 is how most people fly, if there is an option to switch modes, or if the receiver is separate I'd suggest you did that.

Ok. I'm gonna jump in here on what "mode" means when calibrating the CX20. I calibrated mine sorta by accident . I didn't read the manual and used the procedure for my Super X Mini controller. It worked. When I read the manual I found that what I did was similar enough that it completed the calibration. The manual is a typical POS Chinese manual so you have to read between the lines. When you read part 3, section 2 of your manual you will see how to adjust the FLIGHT modes. Part 5 describes those modes In part 4, section4 of the manual it describes compass calibration. Here is my take on this. Manual mode is flight mode (1). Stable mode is flight mode (2) See part 5 of the manual. With the props removed put your Tx into flight mode (2) and follow the instructions in the mode (2) part of compass calibration. Unplug the battery. Put your Tx in flight mode (1). Plug in the battery and follow the instructions in the mode (1) part of compass calibration, lean over and spin the quad, by hand, 5 times horizontally in one direction then do the same , by hand, while holding the quad vertically. Unplug the battery. When you plug back in and arm the motors you should be good to go. Please, please don't do that stupid dance they show on the videos. There is no reason for you to loose your manhood while programming a quadcopter!!:D

Thank you for your reply to my post. I am new to Quadcopters so please excuse my ignorance . I am still a little confused, you say to put the Tx into flight mode 2 ( I'm sorry but what do you mean by this) I know the Tx has to mode switches swa and swb Should I switch these? All paper work says these should be set to SWA to 0 SWB
to 0 for take off. Thank you for your help

This is the most confusing quad I have ever owned. Part of the problem is there are so many clones out there. The advice I gave you is for a "real" CX20. Section 5 of your instruction manual should show Flight mode (1) as manual with SWA switch set to the "0" position. Flight mode (2) should be stable with SWA set to (1) and SWB set to (0). If you have one of the clones then I am not sure how to help you get calibration. The clones seem to vary on procedure depending on who made it. You could try plugging in your quad. Put the SWA and SWB switches to (0). Move the throttle all the way down and to the right and the aileron elevator stick to the lower left. Turn on the Tx. After a few seconds the motors should arm and the beeping should stop. Hopefully the compass will be in calibrating mode. Turn the quad horizontally, by hand, 5 complete times then face the nose to the ground and turn the quad, by hand, 5 complete times. This happens to be how I "accidentally" calibrated mine. I did it right along with the binding process. I hope this works for you. It is all I can think of.

Thank you for your time I will give it a go at the weekend.

I wish you luck. If this doesn't work, I'm out of ideas. Once you get it calibrated it is a fun to fly quad. It's too bad that all the cheap clones out there are spoiling the reputation of a really good quad.

Thank you I managed to calabrate the CX20 I think . Now I can't. Unlock the bloody motors. Do You have any ideas? Thank you

Sorry for the late reply. I just got back in town last night. Have you been able to unlock the motors yet? Mine unlocks when I turn the Tx on then plug in the quad, then move the throttle down and right. When the red light becomes solid I'm good to go.
