How to measure altitude on quad

I just finished my first build and my quad is now able to fly. :) I am using a ZMR Multiwii Lite for my flight controller and was wondering how I could measure the altitude with this controller. And I also wanted to know where I would see this information (ex. smartphone, tablet). Thanks for any help in advance

Budget and needed capabilities? I take it you want an easy solution that gives a live feed out or would you rather a blackbox type that is not sent down through telemetry but accessible with your flight logs? Also you probably want something that will just go with the gear you have rather than a separate system?

I would want something that has live feed granted it's not too expensive. I thought the flight controller was capable of reading this information and I just needed a way to transmit it. What kind of electrical component would I need to do this?

What radio and receiver are you using? FrySky has some fairly easy to use sensors like a barometer for a reasonable price. Also here is an I2C barometer that would work assuming the lite version has an extra I2C connection.
