How to build a Ground Control Station? What hardware goes into one?

I would like to DIY my first ground control station. I've been scouring internet and have not found any tutorials or practical lists of hardware/components. Looking to control my DJI Inspire / phantom and want it to be compatible with Pixhawk systems as well

Would be very grateful for some help / a lead in the right direction.

Can recommend the immersionRC duo 5.8ghz rx. I just got one last week.
My range is excellent. IMG_20170820_125139033-768x1367.jpg this I my setup. The box I put my antenna in is fixed to the clamp on a selfie stick. Then the rx is just velcro'down on top. I screw 2 x 30cm rods into bottom & gets me about 5' high while I can sit in my chair. I just use quanum V2 goggles.
The ipd is too small on fatshark & Skyzones.
