Hi from sunny Manchester!

hi all,

Just ordered an rtf quadcopter, can't wait for it to arrive. Meanwhile I've been doing a bit of reading, googling and youtube-ing, like you do. I love to tinker with things (I drive a 52 year old Land Rover, go figure) and so right out of the gate I have a wonderfully 'noob' question for you all.

I have on order a Quanum Nova. Let's say I kill it. The gubbins inside are ok, maybe needs a new rotor or two but all the electronics and motors, cabling etc is fine. The casing however is cracked. Or broken or whatever. Is there anything to stop me from then taking out all the components and fitting it all into a new custom frame? Say along the lines of the carbon fibre type or maybe aluminium? Would the 'bits' all just fit in ok and then the flight controller be able to work out it no longer weighs the same or has the same balance or aerodynamic properties and be able to compensate? From what I have read so far I can't see any reason why not but you experts I'm sure can put me right. Apologies for possibly being a bit thick!

Many thanks
Ste
p.s. It isn't at all sunny in Manchester, ever.

Hi Mate its not sunny in LUTON ether lol, Yes it should work ok you have to check things like the board is mounted right way also carbon conducts power so all will have to be insulated , But as long as the quad is a even shape and will balance it will hover ok and fly

This is good, thanks. So would I be right in saying, once I'm ok flying it 'out of the box' and ready to tinker I could upgrade the frame, maybe use better motors and rotors and so on? If, I wanted. I kind of bought the model on a whim and then realised, after watching a few vids and reading here and there that I may well have painted myself into a corner and if I wanted to upgrade I'd have to start with a whole new machine. From what you say though this isn't the case. Strangely I haven't found a lot of info out there on this. I guess most folk must be happy with their rtf quads as they are and leave the mods to the build your own guys? I'm more of a 'mod what you got' kind of person.

Hi mate the quad is just a frame and FCB esc motors props , so any home made frame will still works ERKS frames are home made and are now one of the best acro frames you can get your hands on
