Hi from a Newbie!

Hi everyone,
Just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm new to quads and have just bought myself a Quattro-X RTF model. Have used it a couple of times with a GoPro and was pretty impressed. Flight times are only about 8-9 mins with the camera, and I expect this will drop when I put the gimbal on.
I haven't found any reference to anyone else owning one of these on here. I think they are probably going to put a dent in DJI Phantom sales in the UK as they are so cheap yet still have all the GPS functions that a newbie would want.
If I get on with the quad and enjoy using it then I'd like to do a self build and ultimately progress to FPV flying. But always with the camera attached! It's seeing all that stuff from a few hundred feet up that gives me a real buzz!
Hoping to get some good advice on all relevant topics!

Wow, they are cheap. I've never heard of them before this post but they look like great entry quads. Do they feel rugged as they look?

I'm not sure that I'm really qualified to say! I've tried countless times to fly helis without success. It cost me a small fortune and I never got the hang of them. But this was great. Up in the air, engage GPS hold and then start learning. I had no problems with control, and the Gps hold, altitude hold and orientation hold are priceless. I've no complaints, especially as I had been looking at getting a Phantom at pretty much four times the cost! The Quattro cost me £150 from Ebay.

Hi mate welcome to the forum , nice quad , twister made and still do make Helicopters , This is a new one on me , but there are so many coming out now , Quads are a really big money spinner so they are all jumping on the quad band wagon
If you have the time ( sound like you have the passion) to do a review of the quad it will help others some time we dont buy this sort of quads as we dont know what they will be like , but some one like you takes the chance and love them so spread the word , only time will tell how it lasts
The DJI Phantom costs because its so very very good, easy to fly, and lasts there are still Phantom mark 1 flying the same as the first day it was flown
CP helis are very hard to fly took me 6 months to get the hover right , if later you want to try a CP heli again first buy a tri-copter this will teach you what skill set you need to fly a CP

Thanks for the advice, but I think I'm going to give heli's a miss from now on! I'll certainly do a review on the Quattro when I've had a chance to spend a little more time with it. I've just bought the Walkera G-2D gimbal to accompany it and I'm looking forward to trying them all out next week. This is really a cheap way for me to find out whether I enjoy quad flying enough to invest more money in building a decent setup that could perhaps carry my Canon EOS700D for pics and video. Early days, but I'm quite excited about the whole thing. I really do think that quads are going to be HUGE over the next few years. (Until the government clamp down on it!!)
