so i want to build a quad. I want fpv with ok speed and good maneuverability and gps with auto return home and altitude are a must (already lost a cheap prebuilt quad would rather not have that happen again) im not going to be racing but it needs to be fun to fly . would be nice to get it around $500

I've heard/seen good things about that Hercules frame. If you want all those goodies it's best to stick to around that size, I don't think I could cram one more thing on my 250, between all my flight and fpv electronics

thank for the help would the larger frame make it slow to turn?
With any decent flight controller and transmitter, you can adjust the rates to be as slow or fast (to a point) as you want. I'd definitely go with the Hercules so that you can choose the motors, ESC etc. , as I've read that the Quanum comes with pretty weak motors and parts are not readily available. But that being said, you're going to be hard pressed to stay under your $500 budget.

ya that's the price I'm shooting for not including the transmitter I know a good one will run around $200 . What determines the range? the the transmitter I would assume? But I didn't see a rang on the spec? What would you expect to pay for a setup like what I want?
