Hello from Calgary

Hi All,

Just want to say hello from Calgary, Canada. I just acquired another addictive hobby - quadcopter.

During the summer I spent all of my free time (weekends) golfing. For the rest of the year I make my own golf clubs, and the other hobby I have is pen making.

My first quadcopter is a Proto X. I want to learn as much as I can flying this little copter before I move up to a bigger unit.

Looking forward to learn form you all.

The small quads are fun indoors. I've found that Flyin' Ryan is a good source for reviews and information on these "toy"-class quads. Here's his latest info on the Proto X:
We all look forward to you joining in discussions on multi-rotor craft that are a bit larger, or DIY, where there are things to work out. Your new RTF nano is pretty trouble-free, apart from prop deformation apparently. So when you learn "head in" flying, where the controls are reversed, and can fly head-straight figure eights with banked turns, it'll be time to go "real". That's when the fun (and yes, frustration) begins.
I know I speak for all the members when I say WELCOME, and despite what our cartoons imply, Canada IS a real country anyway...

Thank you Hugh. The bumper looks like a good idea. I lost a few propellers already. And yes, I have been practicing the "head in" or I call it "face me" maneuver. Haven't done any figure eight yet.
