First build... Smoke stopper

So I completed my first build it's a tadpole 3 with xing 1404 motors
hakrc aio FC
crossfire nano
Zeus nano 350 mw vtx
run cam Phenix 2
Gemfan hurricane 3015
Any who I forgot to order a smoke stopper stupid I'm so anxious to power it up but I don't wanna smoke any thing I can use any 2-4s battery's for a smoke test and initial powering up right my FC is rated up to 5s i think...I don't wanna buy a bunch or batteries until I know this thing will fly any suggestions for a smoke stopper I found one on rdq for 11 bucks I'm tryin to post pictures of it too but it keeps saying they are too large for the server

I have a super crappy analog multimeter I'm a plumber I just use it for water heater voltage check and continuity on elements maybe I should invest in a digital from the hardware store... What would I be testing the battery lead and then on 5v and ground pads make sure there is no continuity on when touching 5v and ground and continuity when I'm touching 5v and 5v etc I've tried to post pics it's keeps saying they are too large for the server i will try again maybe I can take a screen shot of the pics ok screenshot didn't work either so how do I make a picture file size smaller they will not upload on hers
 
Correct on the continuity checking. All you really need is the beeper. I usually just use the - on the ESC and touch off as many points as I can. As long as it only beeps on the - pads, I'm happy. Don't be surprised if you don't get anything between + pads.
As far as pics. If on Win7 I use paint to to resize mine. On Win10 I use a program called Gimp.
