First, Hello to all. This is my first post in this forum.
I am planning on an F450 build using an APM2.6 controller.
I have already acquired the frame, motors, and ESC's for this build but need some help with the additional
items.
Do I need a power sensor module like this
51vNXdgIhcL._SX425_.jpg
to connect the battery to the APM or can I just use the cable that comes off the battery to do so?

Thanks for the advice. I have a few more questions and will follow up after this one is resolved.

A2212 1000KV They were what was included in the frame build kit.

Buy a battery with an XT60 connector, a lot more available, and accessories will be more apt to work with them. Yes, you should get a voltage sensor, any little buzzer will be fine. Can you give a part list and a list of what you are trying to accomplish so we can help you as you need it?

I have also been thinking of using this power connection board instead of the standard solder one that is part of the 450 frame.
My plan, knowing little as this is my first build, is battery pictured above, thru that power sensor cable above, to this
distro board. and then out to ESC's. I will use the connector off the power cable to the APM.
Am I on the right track?

Parts List: Here is what I already have:
  • F450 basic frame kit + 4Pcs motors + 4Pcs 30A ESC + 2Pairs props + Landing gear
  • New design PCB board version fit for standard 50mm controller board like MK,KK, FF,MWC
  • Made by advanced engineering material ,Strong and smooth
  • Brushless Motors A2212/13 1000KV ; ESC output: Continuous 30A,
  • 2 Pairs 10x4.5" 1045 propellers, F450/550 Universal Landing gear

Here is what I have planned on ordering :

Battery:
  • Chemistry: Li-Polymer
  • Voltage: 11.1V; Capacity: 3000mAh; Discharge: 30C
  • Discharge plug: Dean-Style T Connector
Power Board:
  • 1 * T Plug Power Distribution Board
Power Sensor:

HOSdog APM2.5.2 APM2.6 Pixhawk Current Sensor Power Module V1.0 Output BEC 3A XT60 Plug

Control Board:

Generic APM2.6 APM Flight Controller Board w/ Side-Pin Connector for ARDUPILOT MEGA 2.6

Anti Vibration Plate for Control Board:

HOSdog Universal Glass Fiber Damping Plate Shock Absorber Anti-vibration Set for Flight Controller APM KK MWC

Receiver:

Haven't decided on model yet, please recommend.

Hahaha, that a picture of it from the factory, you might want to reheat the joints if this is what they are advertising.

What about ESCs, motors, charger, and a frame?

Thanks. Budget is low, but don't want junk either.
I have been looking at these two receivers :

Turnigy 9X 2.4GHz 8Ch Receiver (V2)
or
FlySky FS-R9B High Precision 2.4Ghz 8CH Receiver

I just plan on using my transmitter that I received with my UDI 818A for now, until I can buy something better, as I am getting
kinda maxxed out on the budget a bit.

Back to the original question for a moment though: On the battery I posted above, is the connector shown coming off the battery
made to go directly to the APM control module, or is it better to go to that power sensor and then to the APM module? iaw, just wondering
what would be the better accepted method. I guess I am just a little confused with all these additional connectors etc and what the best
option would be to avoid burning out the APM 2.6.

Thanks again

Do you already have a Tx? I'd suggest the Turnigy, as Fly sky is an attempt to copy Fry Sky brand.

Turnigy
Really cheap if you get the 9x, and good quality, if you get the Turnigy pro version for a good bit more you can do a LRS
Spektruim (Great quality; Dx6i, Dx6, or Dx7)
Orange (great quality, cheapest on this list, and receivers work with most Spektruim products)
FrySky (makes a good yet cheap 9X probably the cheapest full range 9 channel Tx)

I have used the HKTR6A v2 (Hobby King's) Transmitter and receiver. I have no complaints with it, it is just not really up-gradable, or programmable. It has a range that is a lot further than you can see, so if you fly LOS. Quality is really surprising even though it was only ~$25.

You have to get the APM voltage sensor board, but here is a diagram on how to wire it.

Regarding the variety of receivers you posted. Are they compatible with different transmitters or am I locked into getting that same brand of transmitter? The reason I am asking is because I like
the Turnigy brand, but don't quite have the money for that transmitter yet and would just like to get this off the ground with my UDI 818A transmitter and the Turnigy receiver if it would work that way.

Thanks
