EACHINE E511 Controller Antenna Modification

Hi guys.
This is my first real post really other than my last one to say Hi.

I am currently thinking of trying out an Antenna Modification from the spare parts that I have got lying around my home, what I was thinking is does anybody have any extra input on whether this could be a good or bad idea, the upside is that I can always replace the original antenna back but I have 2 d-link dir 615 antennas spare and was thinking of replacing the stock antenna that's already on the controller.

I have watched a few YouTube video's where they do this but the drone controller that they did it on was a different model it was the EACHINE E58, from what I have seen in the video's they are literally exactly the same controller wise, so I'm open to any thoughts on doing this.

The YouTube video of the guy that did this said he got better range and also better video over the stock one which was getting pixelated and laggy as a snapped elastic band LOL.

I will post some image's below to show the controller and stock antenna along with the d-link dir 615 router antennas.

Any input would be really great and muchly appreciated thank you.

Well, for anyone interested in whether this may work or not with the EACHINE E511 I am nearing the end of the project, I will add a few more image's when I get a chance so that anyone with a E511 then they'll have an idea about if it's possible to get this done.

Yep sometimes you can modify those cheap toy drones for better range if you're skilled at soldering onto boards.

Yup also watching here but don't have too much input. Some small points, you don't want a transmitter/amplifier powered with no transmitter antenna hooked up the antenna is the load and the transmitter will likely cook itself if it isn't actually transmitting out through an antenna (especially 600mW or higher powered vtx transmitters). You also don't want to kink or change the length of the antenna or wire going to it too much especially the antenna itself any kinks in it will effect how the signal is picked up or broadcast pretty significantly. Last thing make sure shielding is hooked up to GND and polarity/frequency of antenna are a good match on transmitting and receiving side.

Hi guys cheers for watching thread and the input, however at the moment I am having to wait awhile due to my collie thinking it's great to swallow a 3" stone, so I've had to pay for his life saving op at the PDSA.

As a quick update the mod did seem to have worked and made the quality a little bit better, but the range seems to have been shortened, it cuts video feed after about 20-30 feet so I'm going to check the soldering on it just to make sure I haven't got a cold solder joint.

I will update as my dog gets better, but, for now at least for a few weeks I am going to have to leave it while I get him better.
