Drones to deliver packages

I know it's a big question but honestly have no idea where/ how else to ask. We run an e-commerce company that delivers packages short range (5 - 10km max) and we would like to start experimenting with using drones instead of people to deliver packages. We have a team of software engineers but no robotics/ aviation specialists (yet!). Any recommendations on which drone we should purchase to get started?

Here's some requirements for what we need:

  • 10km range (3 - 6 miles)
  • able to carry at least 2 pounds
  • preferably an API that we can use to control the drone/ get a camera feed (was thinking we could get a camera feed using a go pro too)
  • safe/ easy to fly through a city with skyscrapers
Once again, I know this is a tough question, but no idea where else to start. Any help is appreciated. Thank you very much for your input.

Hi mate great idea but I think FAA will not let you due to all the new rules on multirotors ( drones) will not be able to fly over a city or were people are , skycrapers will block signals to the copter as well , if you was on farm land and open area then yes it can be done
Before i spend any real money you need to look at FAA rules that are coming in to play , its even hard to fly an rc heli in a park now days
