DJI Mini 2 range

Howdy all.
Joined the Forum originally hoping to build a DIY, but have chickened out for now to use a dji Mini 2 to get some flight experience.
The Range is supposed to be approximately 6 miles. It is set to alternate between 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz to avoid Tx/Rx problems.
My problem is that if a building, outcrop, or anything gets in the way of Line of Sight I am getting ' loss of signal ' warning at less than 1/4 mile !
Please pardon if this is a absolutely stupid ' Newbie ' question, but is there any way these control frequencies transmitted from the dji controller could be
greatly amplified or modified, rather than simply purchasing a clip-on ' range-extender ' (which only works on 5.8Ghz I believe) ?

Hi MalcB not such thing as a stupid question. Sorry can't help much with this but I wonder if you can boost the signal you have in the UK we can only fly line of sight so don't have range problems. Bruce at rcmodlereviews on you tube did a video on range boost and how to build one it may be worth a look. If not I hope one of the members may know

Thanks holtneil.
Mea Culpa. Here in the UK we are restricted to LoS as well. It actually happened by accident due to me concentrating on the camera view rather than the fact I was passing from direct LoS, just behind a high cliff outcrop.
I suppose subconsciously I was emulating our drone racing friends who can zoom rapidly through empty car-parks, warehouses etc. without apparent problem.
It would be nice to be 100% sure (belt & braces (suspenders) that your initial limiting factor would be loss of video, as a warning, long before your control was lost and strength of signal enough to penetrate the odd inadvertent accidental obstruction.
Building your own, you have much more choice (local laws permitting), which Bruce @ rcmodelreviews seems to concentrate on.
I was wondering if it was possible if a commercially built quad like the Mini 2 could be ' bound ' to a transmitter which could take a EzUHF module, like a Taranis for instance ?
