Not sure if you guys are on the DJI mailling list but they are hyping a big announcement tonight of a new product that their unveiling. DJI products are pretty good so I hope this is not a let down after they hyped it up.

Fully controllable 360 degree gimbal. FPV that transmits in HD. Stabilized video up to 4k resolution. Retractable landing gear. Really cool looking quad. Between $3000 and $4000 out the door but it would cost probably more to build a quad of that caliber by yourself. This technology is really moving fast. This quads video capabilities is why I got into this hobby. Can't wait to see some unbiased reviews of it.

Damn! I just saw the article posted in the news section here. You're exactly right about the technology moving so fast! It's crazy how good things are becoming at prices that are low for such technology. A couple of years ago, if you described this quad, people probably wouldn't believe it would come so soon, or at such a good price. The robotics and automation fields are going to be crazy in the next few years! Google also just bought up a bunch of robotics companies, so they know what's up!

And their letting developers create apps for it as well so it can do even more. With a narrower lens they got rid of the fisheye thats so common with these videos. DJI is top of the line but everyone is getting in the game. You can get a full sized FPV quad from hobbyking for $450.

Wow - the app thing is going to take it to the next level. You'll be able to implement functionality very easily with that. HK has an entire FPV kit with goggles, camera, vtx, and vrx for $99 and if you leave it in your cart, it goes down to $94. It's kind of crappy, but still pretty unreal to see all that for those prices.
