Did I fry my FC?

Hey guys, I'm back with another noob question. I bought an emax babyhawk and it came in yesterday. I was super excited to use it so as soon as I got it I started setting it up with the receiver. After I got the receiver installed and bound to my transmitter I went into betaflight to set up switches. I connected it to the computer and also to a flight battery so that the receiver was getting power. The receiver tab was still blank so I read a few things online and decided I would try flashing new betaflight firmware on the FC. The little jump tabs to put it in bootloader mode are crazy hard to get to and as I was trying to do it I'm pretty sure I bridged two of the solder joints on the fc coming from an esc. I heard a pop and smelled a slight burning smell and the lights on the fc don't light up anymore, although the receiver and vtx lights still turn on. Did I fry the fc? If so is it possible I damaged anything else like the motors or esc? It appears I'm learning the hard way this time.. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the world of quadcopter problem solving. From my experience, your best bet is to troubleshoot down to the LRU (line replaceable unit) and then replace. Start with replacing the F.C. and work from there. Hold onto the item you're replacing in case that you guessed wrong and the thing still works - only dump it when you're satisfied that it's toast. IF you shorted the F.C. then chances are the ESC is okay but you won't know for sure until you eliminate the F.C. variable.
