charging question

i am new to lipo. i got a imax b6ac i am charging 5000 mah 3s for my qrx350.
i set the amps at .5A
what should the saftey time be set to?
 
Hi mate your need max , a 5000mah battery needs a 80amp charger min , I use a 400w charger to do 3000mah at 3 amps and it takes 38 mins
Just reading your message again is that a typo .5amps( 0.5amps) or do you mean 5amps

its .5 amps what should i turn it up to?
 
Hi always charge at C1 so a 5000mah will charge at 5.0 amps , just put a decimal point between the first 2 number , so a 5200mah will be 5.2amps
some batterys will take C3 but your need to check I would not charge at this all the time but once in a while its ok BUT CHECK FIRST
As we are chatting lipos dont go below 3,2v a cell I dont go under 3,7 and I have batteries over 2 years old now always balance if your in a hurry use fast charge still at 5.0amps it just brings battery to 80% which will give you a flight its the last 20% that the charger will balance the cells so its slow , Dont leave batteries full charge for longer than a week if your not going to fly store charge to 3.7v a cell they will keep like this for ever just check once a month over the winter
Dont ever leave a charging lipo unattended charge in a lipo sack to be safe , a lipo can burn your house down if it goes bad , dont mean to be a scare munger just want you to be safe
