Calibrate Cheerson CX-30W

This is my first RC of any kind. Day one I was able to get it in the air, and crashed of course. Broke a prop, and replaced it.

Trouble now is, I can't get it to calibrate. Show typical behavior for needing calibration, but I follow the directions and it doesn't calibrate.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Sounds like a cracked solder joint but I could be wrong. Does anything look bent? And are you calibrating on a level surface when required?

Thanks GJH. Definitely on level, not sure about the solder. I don't see anything bent, but I'll look closer.

Sadly a cracked solder joint may not be visible, and bent was referring to the frame, if something were bent to keep the flight controller from being close to level I figured that may be a possible cause. One way to test and fix cracked soldered joints of SMD and other devices is to use an SMD reflow/rework gun, but that requires some level of experience and the correct tools.

Thanks again GJH. Frame looks fine, no cracks and everything in place.

I haven't soldered anything in years. Since I just got this, I started a return process to Amazon, and ordered the Husban H107C from B&H photo.

What is SMD?

SMD stands for surface mounted devices. If you can get it replaced then that is best.

Hi skycopter. Yes I've held the sticks to the bottom right. I've tried that at every speed setting, even though the manual says do it at 100%.

No, the one blade does not start at the the time. It starts as if there is a delay in getting enough juice.

Does the same motor that doesn't start seem harder to turn than the others? May have a damaged motor.

Motor is fine Gramps, but I'll keep that in mind as I damage more of these ;)

I did more research and found the problem. This should make the the top 10 of newbie mistakes...

I put the wrong prop on the motor. Of course now I'm out of battery power, so I have to wait to some actual flying, but they lasted long enough to get up off the ground.

Battery charged, quad in air...crash into wall ;)

Several flights later and had some control some of the time. Trim seems very touchy.

Practice, practice, practice :)

I have 3 batteries for my x5c-1 and a charger that will 5 batteries at a time. Even with more batteries remember you will want to wait for the motors to cool some before flying again. Will add life to your motors.

Yes it does take practice to fly these little beast, just keep practicing Dan it will get easier. Only had mine 5 days and I fell more comfortable today than 5 days ago.

Thanks for the tip on letting the motors cool down Gramps. I've got a charger and batteries in my wishlists.
