With the new "smart" buzzers now available, I thought I'd do a quick comparison on the 2 most popular models, the Hellgate and the Vifly. This is not a review, but a comparison to help you decide which one is best for you.
The first and most obvious difference is size. At only 10 X 10 X 15mm, you can see that the Hellgate is roughly half the size as the Vifly buzzer on the left.
Both have a self-contained battery supply. The Vifly emits a continuous beep which is good for roughly 3-4 hours, whereas the Hellgate goes into once every 30 seconds mode after 2 hours and is said to be good for up to 2 weeks!
The Vifly has a port and comes with a plug-in wiring harness, whereas the Hellgate has only solder pads and comes with no wires.
The Vifly has a tiny button on the side far disarming, whereas the Hellgate is controlled simply by plugging and unplugging your lipo. This is actually a main consideration as it limits the mounting options of the Vifly as the button needs to be accessible.
At $30, the Hellgate is not cheap. The Vifly is only $15.
So there you have it, both buzzers have their pros and cons. I think if you have decent soldering skills and don't have a lot of room to spare on your build, the Hellgate is the way to go. On the other hand, if you have room in your build and want to save a few bucks (and who doesn't!), then the Vifly is a great option and is in fact shown to be a few db louder than the Hellgate.
