Well not burned.....phewww.

I have about 20 flights in around the property. Heavy with trees. ughh. I tapped a pine tree trunk last week because of my depth of field problem. No damage. Said to self, dont do that! Well..........

Late yesterday afternoon, I was flying around the back near the creek. Its nice that time of twilight. The Phantom is easy to see and so is the FPV screen.

I came to close to a tree at about 30 feet up. I was about 100 feet away. No leaves on the branches, could not see, so I screwed UP! Lucky it landed in a pile of leaves.

Broke the Gimble. The quad tested good on the bench. motors spun up and good GPS. Will test fly later this afternoon. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Now the Gimble. Need advice. Is it fixable by me? See pictures. I see that some parts are available on line. I have a tech background and a few years ago, I would have no problem. But in my old age have lost some manual dexterity for small parts and such. But don't want to pay DJI big bucks.

Thanks for any advice and personal experience.

Bill

Okay. You Tube is my friend.....sort of. I have watched dozens of videos! They have helped. I am about a third of the way done in my repair of the Gimbal. Slow and easy hahah

If anyone runs into the same problem I found a "write-up" with pictures that I actually like better than the Videos. I hope to be back in the air with working cam soon.

All done except for that evil last ribbon cable connection to the actual camera!
YIKES!
It sucks Canal Water.....LOL

After that I can install Gimbal back on Phantom and hope and pray.
If you hear a shot gun blast it will be the Phantom being blown up hhahhaa
