After first outdoor flight with WLToys V222 some advice needed.

Hi, I just had my first outdoor flight today with my new V222. I first practiced inside for 2 evenings and went outside. Situation: dry, little wind from the North, and fading light conditions.

Couple of questions:
Calibration... I had the feeling my quad was drifting away all the time, is this a calibration issue? I tried to balance it out using the trim buttons, but still it drifted. Or could the wind cause this? Wind speed was very low though.
Also wondering; should I calibrate only once ever? Or should I need to do this every time I go out again? Is there a difference indoor/outdoor?

Is there a recommended way to make your quad stop when there is an emergency? When I first took off, I was a bit too enthusiastic and immediately flew too high and fast. After trying to recover it and get it closer again, I had the feeling I was going to lose control, so I shut down power and the quad crashed, luckily still in one piece. Any better solutions for such situations, next to avoiding them in the first place? ;-)

Thanks for your replies! Much appreciated!

Hi Red airwolf , ok most toy quads if you land or re-power reset there gyros , if you cant trim the drift it is wind normally the quad is very light and hardly any wind will blow it around
As for crashing its a learning thing , these quads fly how a CP heli flys so are easy than a cp heli but do the same thing , try to dab the stick , what i mean by this is if you want to go forward push stick forward as soon as quad moves let stick centre it will start to slow to a stop so dab it again just keep doing this till you get the feel for it ,if you need to stop just give it full backwards till its about stopped then centre stick , its all timing and knowing what its going to do before it does it , i fly CP helis as well and you have to be 1 step ahead start to stop well, before you want to stop
Practice ,practice and then some more it will come in time , and yes it is easy in doors , if you have aircon at home put it on and see what it does to the quad

Another question: when is your quad properly calibrated? Should it stay completely still in the air, hovering? Or will there always be a slight drift? (Even indoors?) Thanksè

Hi mate it will drift a little even in doors as there are air currents we cant see or feel . I have a blade balancer that when the blades are on it ,if i walk past it moves the blades , the only way to stop the drift is to use GPS
