afro 30amp speed controller

any reason for a speed controller to not arm (go green) haven't had a serious enough accident to warrant it to stop working.

now flashes red once, followed by a break then twice, read a bit on line but meant nothing to me.

can anyone give me a layman's definition? is it dead?

cheers

Hi mate the manual said any red flashes esc has a blown moffet chip so new to be fixed or a new esc in a crash if the motor jams it can spike the esc

Thanks Holtneil,

Moffat chip... That makes sense. Remember seeing Moffat in the literature but meant nothing.

Thanks again.
If you want to you can repair the ESCs with a soldering iron and some spare/cheap transistors, but it would probably be a bit easier to buy newer ESC(s).

Thanks GJH105665

although I'm happy to solder, i feel a new set of esc's are in order, the quad was my brothers and I'm tweaking to fit my needs.

could i mix esc brand? i.e. turnigy and afro? and more importantly what brand would you recommend?

thanks again Billy

You probably could if you could make sure they were flashed with the exact same firmware, but it is certainly not recommended. If you are forced to mix them place brand A on CW and brand B on CCW motors to make flipping on takeoff less likely if they started up at different times.
