Having used CC3D and KK2.1.5 - I thought it wise to try the Naze32 - which seems more widely used.
I can and have updated it and used Baseflight...BUT for the life of me.. I cannot get it to load into Cleanflight. It does not auto connect and a manual connect fails after 10 seconds.

Using the above two FCs - I found the esc/motor connections easy to follow. Now I accept I am new to this and must be partially brain dead - but I cannot really follow the pin wiring system.

I see motors 1-2-3-4..... but no indication of which colour wire to use in the supplied breakout cable.
Possibly using the CC3D and its colour coding is blocking me dealing with this - that and seeing
DO NOT GET WIRE POLARITY REVERSED - THIS WILL INSTANTLY DESTROY THE HARDWARE - does not help.
The breakout cable I have is a series of black, white, orange, red, brown. I have seen vids of older version with different colour wires.

Also, I am not sure about the ESCs - the ones I plan to use have the red,white, black wires....are these OK or do I have to use just the white signal wire.

Any other advice welcome....

You have to flash it with the cleanflight firmware before it will recognize it.

Too quick on the send! I have now got it sorted - had to use the PC and it does seem to have an issue with downloading drivers. Yesterday I downloaded the drivers on both Mac and PC but neither would connect.
Today went back to the PC and re-installed the drivers... still the same problems. Did a cold boot hoping to clear any cache issues - still the same.
Re downloaded to the drivers on PC - re- installed - re did the cold boot.
Walla - it connected - and I installed the top stable firmware.
Took it back on Mac - re downloaded the OS version of the driver - first time I ever needed to on a mac and it connected there also.
The only thing I am not certain about is which wire to attach and where on the 10 pin ( 2 x 5 pins) to plug into the reciever - mine only has ail, ele rud etc - this is talking channels.

I use one esc to power the naze and signal for the rest. The power from the esc also powers the rx from the naze.

Here is how I connect mine. You can use a breakout cable, but ppm will save on weight, and make it a cleaner install .

I have a set of ZTW 125 OneShot in use with a uBec - does the Naze32 need a uBec or is it built in the board??

I think it will be possible in Cleanflight to swap these plugs around to see what they do in teh various section of set up???

I have the Alien Frame set up and running... but I have a KK2 FC on the bottom deck - battery on top - so getting to the FC means a strip down basically.
I made the solder to high on the ESC and power cables and - then - I only had a 4500mah battery which would not sit on the deck due to this. I had thought of making a plate to slip in over the wires and solder joints for teh battery to sit on. The other way was to risk damage to the battery in a crash. I also want to change teh motors - DJI 2123 920... they cost a bit!

I won an auction and picked up a set of Emax motors (EDIT) Just arrived .. see new post!

I can swap those to go with the Emax ESC and use a set of Mars Motors on the Alien which has the ZTW ESCs in place!
Couple that with wanting to try this Naze32 which seems to be the first choice of most builders.

I have run the Naze 32 through Cleanflight - ignored the arm by switch option... but I find now that I cannot arm the Devo 10 with the usual left stick to bottom right action.
Any idea's??
I coinfess its a week ago.. but too hot here to sit with computers... and having a shiny new TGY110 radio - which give me access to Free Rider FTP sim!
