3D Printed 4” Racing Quadcopter: From Design to Maiden Flight

Hi guys!

In this video we design a 3D-printed quadcopter FPV frame for brushless motors, print it, build it and take it out flying. We use 1806-size T-Motor F30 and 4045 tri-blade DalProps. During the maiden flights we try to test out the limits of this 3D-printed PLA frame to see how it can hold up to fast & acro flying. The frame itself is also available on Thingieverse for everyone.

Do u think an ABS material printed frame performs better than PLA? What is your view.
 
Hi!

Many thanks for the sub! I have so far mainly used PLA. ABS is stronger and more temperature resistant than PLA, but at the same time also more flexible than PLA. This might be an issue when it comes to vibrations. In the end I guess one would have to try it out to see which works better.

Thanks Michael for your input. Another reason I asked because some of my clients have passed me some 3D printed parts to be hydrodipped and it's made of PLA and ABS. To be honest, I couldn't tell the difference. But now I know!
