1000 yards in woods.

So if i want to fly 1000 yards in heavly wooded area, what transmitter and rx would i need. Same for fpv. What would do the job? I bought second Eachine racer 250 and im thinking about goggles. I want to fly wooded trails. But want good video and radio.
Radiolink At9- will that do the job? What about fpv?

Okay, so maybe that isnt possible. Or maybe it's coveted, hard earned, trial and error information in which I must build a system and find out if it works. So far ive learned a little bit about signal boosters and and ground stations. Also ive spent a little time learning about the different frequencies.

This may be a dumb question but is there a problem with running your rc controller on 2.4ghz and your fpv equipment 2.4ghz? Also can a person use a ground station booster and antenna for both signals. This stuff is brain burning just starting out trying to get a handle on it. Currently im wondering if its possible to get fpv in 5.8ghz to do what i want it to do- 1000 yards in heavly wooded area. My equipent is 2.4 for the r c controller and 5.8 for the fpv. Im trying to figure out if what i have can be boosted or if im totally off base and dealing in the wrong frequecies for that to be possible.

Who knows something about antennas? Im wondering if I can use a pepperbox, yagi, or helical refector in some combination for strong enough 5.8ghz video and 2.4ghz control. Does anyone know a proven combination. To get at least 500 yards in wooded forest but perferibly 1000 yards.

I can think of a bunch of ways to get the results you want, however none are practical and most are ridiculous. The tech just isn't there yet man

So the good news about the Radiolink AT9 the way i understand it is the internal anntenna can be shut off and a different frequency can be used. So if 5.8 wont work, i cound maybe switch to 2.4 video and 1.2 radio. Im stubborn though and curious how far 5.8 can be pushed.

Im into non practical and ridiculous. Humor me, how would you do it? If you were going to blow money and make it work? :)
Oh boy. Imagine if you will, a larger camera platform type quad, with alt. Hold and a GPS lock on your 250 flying above the trees. Your 250 would need a high gain antenna, pointing straight up.

Then, either through the use of a signal repeater or some type of relay system, the signal would be broadcast from your 250, to the quad hovering above the trees, which would then push the signal back to the three story antenna tower you would have to build outside of the woods.

Ha ha! I love it! Not going to do that, but I love it! :)

I might be willing to go with the tower antenna and a yagi or helical reflecter anntena, some kind of 5.8ghz diversity reciever/booster setup if it exists and would work. Is there such a thing?

Your main problem is going to be the trees, as forests tend to have a lot of them. You can have as many antennas as you want, but the fact remains there will always be some sort of barrier between you and the quad. The only way to counter this will be to have both the transmitting and recieving antennas above the tree canopy

My idea is to fly trails which is below the canopy. I have about 20 acres of woods and trails to fly. So the thought was to make race tracks, buts it seeming less and less likey that will be possible. I might try some stuff and test how far imcan go. How far would you guess a duel antenna diversity receiver with maybe helical refector and omni directinal antenna through woods?
The ideas /options i have so far is are:
Yagi antenna
Pepper box
Helical refelctor
Panel
Omni directional

Im wondering if i can get duel deversity reciever and run it though a 5.8ghz booster and run an antenna array on a pole with two of the above options. I could fly and keep the quad out front so im wondering if a directional antenna set up would boost the range even through trees and under growth. I figure there has to be some dummy like me who has tried it and id like to know the potential range that can be accomplished. The question is if the range is worth the cost. The fear is that there is little range increase compaired to the time and cost to set it up. Id feel like an idiot if there was basically no increase or video clarity. It seems like I would need to get the fpv range figure out before i can work on radio range.

If it's your private property you could strategically place antenna towers along the course

It is my property. Myself and a few buddies were wondering about making tracks to fly. I was thinking of trying it myself and if its possible they would get their own set ups. Even if i could get 300-400 yards, we could make a few course options and just move around within the property. One big course covering the entire property is seeming more and more impossible/not worth the expense. I guess id have to see what range i can get with one tower to find out how many towers I would need, but its sounding too expensive. Any idea how far I could get with one tower? Or is there too many varibles, like how thick the wooded area is?
