DroneShield is keeping hostile UAVs away from NASCAR events - TechCrunch

That's the story of progress. As technology improves, it becomes cheaper per unit, and more widely available. Anybody still paying $3,000.00 US for a pocket cslculator, that you can buy now for $5.00 US?

Syma X8 upgrades to brushless motors.

On a JJRC H25 which uses essentially the same motors and battery, I've experimented with wiring to aftermarket 2500 mah lipos sold on eBay for a Syma X8 in parallel to give me a full 5000 mah. So far, it appears to have longer air time ( didn't time it), although I deleted the onboard camera to...

DroneShield is keeping hostile UAVs away from NASCAR events - TechCrunch

That's the problem. The ones either failing to or refusing to apply common sense, screwing it up for the rest of us....

DroneShield is keeping hostile UAVs away from NASCAR events - TechCrunch

These are currently handheld devices being operated and controlled on the scene by live persons. I foresee these becoming either remotely operated or even autonimous devices capable of detecting, targeting, tracking, and disabling drones on specific flightpaths. And they will be deployed not...

    Headless Mode (decapitated flying)

I haven't tried headless mode yet. Having been on a multi-engine fixed wing aircraft crew, that doesn't seem normal to me.

    FAA Registration is no more!

On the other hand, General Curtis E LeMay was meticulous in making sure that everything he had droning overhead with a payload, was properly marked and identified with Eighth Air Force....

    Power distribution boards

I'm looking at power distribution boards on eBay. None are listed specifically for either Naze32 or Openflight. Does that make a difference, or can a power distribution board be used for either regardless of when it was made? I have one that came with a Naze32 flight control board. But since I...

How to get my drone to fly for 3 to 5 hours??

I wouldn't be surprised to find that some of the world's intelligence services (CIA, KGB, MI-6, Mossad, etc) have that capability in a typical civilian/usage/sized drone (less conspicuous than a Reaper armed with Hellfire missiles), but are keeping it under wraps until something even better...

    Improved Throttle.

How well do the Flysky receivers work with various flight control boards? They're selling pretty cheap on eBay, and I like the idea of two antennas for better signal reception.

    Thanks.

    Improved Throttle.

Looking on eBay, I see Flysky listing a Model FS-i6X ten-channel throttle that appears to supercede their Model FS-i6 6-channel throttle, for slightly higher price. Has anybody tried there throttles previously or this new 10-channel model? If so, how were the results for the ten-channel versus...

Charleston helicopter crash blamed on drone; FAA investigating

Who manufactures a consumer-grade drone that large? That's waaaaaay larger than what I've read is legal under FAA regs. Or is this Photoshop?

Charleston helicopter crash blamed on drone; FAA investigating

If the drone pilot was in the right, then he or she should have no problem in contacting the FAA, informing the agency of their presence in the area at the time of this incident, and cooperating with the investigation. That IS, if they were in full compliance with FAA regs and all applicable...

Illegal to Fly Over My Neighbor's Back Yard?

Whether the act is civil, criminal or both (Yes, you can sue the actor civilly that robbed, assaulted, or harassed you. That is entirely seperate from a criminal prosecution and does not preclude criminal prosecution from occurring.), is a matter for a judge to ultimately determine after such...

Illegal to Fly Over My Neighbor's Back Yard?

This conversation is becoming one that I frequently saw as a cop. Somebody doesn't like the answer received because it doesn't go along with what they want to do. Then once they find themselves on the receiving end of the negative consequences they were warned about in advance, the drama begins...

Illegal to Fly Over My Neighbor's Back Yard?

No, not 400 feet over structures, but 400 feet maximum altitude. 400 feet over structures would give a drone pilot an altitude of approximately 1,800 feet to clear the Empire State Building in Manhattan. I think you need to reread the FAA regs.

Illegal to Fly Over My Neighbor's Back Yard?

And my point is that THERE ARE WAYS TO MAKE A CRIMINAL ARREST. You refuse to accept that, even with me citing specific exsmples of how it can be done. In football, it's called "an end run". You expect me to make an attempt to go straight through your defenses, and I choose to go around them...

Illegal to Fly Over My Neighbor's Back Yard?

No state controls airspace, but through both civil AND criminal statutes, they DO impose control over actions and inactions. And that is how they can indirectly control airspace. Another case in point where California and other states may have statutes similar to those in Pennsylvania: "Title...
