I have flown helicopters in the past and spent hours learning to hover. Now I am 71 and I don't care to fly. I built a drone and went with a Pixhawk control so it can largely fly itself.

I am still missing the point. The transmitter can be either Mode 1 or 2 if you will set it up. If you don't like HK don't buy there.

I bought the Turnigy 9x and switched the mode. Can't you do that?

I only have the Gopro option if I intend photography and know the limits it will place on flight time. When I mount the Gopro I also can mount two batteries.

First, I am going on 70 years of age so I don't anticipate needing a fully portable ground station. Instead I am putting together a rather heavy power user. Any suggestion or ideas before I get too far along would be appreciated. My plan is to use a case in which I have a 12 Volt to 120 volt...

Go to Google search and type in Quadcopter and then go to pictures. You will find it there and you can then go to their page. It would help if you knew its size in the search.

That is the same with Turnigy Er9x. I used it to set up 6 flight modes on my quadcopter.
