I suppose with the tight tolerances, there could be a defect that you can't see. If it performs properly and isn't overheating, I'd just fly and see if it goes away as the motor is broken in.

When you say 300 pluss frame, are you referring to a frame that's 300 mm or larger in size?

Even one mounting screw barely touching a motor winding can induce a huge amount of noise into your video feed. Just something else to check as you said it still flies OK. This makes me think it's not an ESC issue.

It's a little more in-depth and costly here in Canada. First you have to take a 35 question exam to get your licence, which is $10. Then it's a $5 registration fee per drone.

Here's the thing though. We fly our drones for the sheer joy of flying. I flew a couple times before I got my licence and although I wasn't too worried, I was always looking over my shoulder. Took all the fun out of it. For the minimal time and effort it takes, may as well just get a licence.
