    which battery do i need???

I stand corrected. (and that's a really neat trick too!)

    which battery do i need???

The white plug is the balance port - it is used to 'manage' (for want of a better term) the battery. it isn't an output port. I'll wait on someone with more knowledge than I to help with your question on which battery/(ies) to consider for your particular application, but I will hurl-in that if...

    Hoping for an innocent mistake...

… but the cynic within screams otherwise: http://www.thestar.com/news/crime/2016/02/28/opp-investigating-after-drone-followed-children-in-kawartha-lakes.html Not a pleasant story to read - both as a parent, and also as an emerging quadcopter enthusiast.

    XK making some promising moves

Unfortunately, I'm not able to share quite the same level of enthusiasm for this model. The X380 is (on paper) a very respectable machine - so much so that I bought one as my first quad. However, the X380-specific FB group I joined seems to report no-end of issues from a raft of different...

    What'd I do wrong?!?

Unfortunately this seems to be something of a common issue with the X380. I'm a (recent) member of a Facebook group for these models ("XK Detect X380 Owners") and there seem to be far too many very similar postings to mine.

    What'd I do wrong?!?

I wish I did. A couple of days later, I removed the gimbal completely, recharged the batteries, and took the quad to my workshop (30'x40', 20' ceiling). I set it down, armed the motors and took-off. 5 mins into pretty stable hovering, the quad started to drift to the left, so I'd bring it back...

WTF Happened Here With My DJI Phantom 3

"We're a quad forum that should practice decorum as well." "The screaming kid was looking for attention. I would have given him or her something to scream about." Oxymoron. And more than a little unnecessary/distasteful too.

My first build it yourself build.

FYI: I came across this kit - includes frame, flight controller, motors, ESCs & props for less than 20GBP more than the kit you listed: http://www.banggood.com/DJI-NAZA-M-Lite-GPS-F450-KIT-With-ESC-Motor-Blade-Landing-Gear-Combo-p-920654.html Free shipping too…

My first build it yourself build.

Well, not so fast! The kit you found includes what I understand to be a pretty darned good FC… I can't comment on the relative competitiveness of UK pricing (We moved from the UK to Canada 15 years ago - I'm not 'up' on the strength of the GBP any longer!). Perhaps consider pricing it out from...

    What'd I do wrong?!?

Well I ~think~ I might have found parts for the OEM XK X380-C gimbal… The XK gimbal appears (visually at least) to be a VERY similar unit to both the Tarot T-2D V2 gimbal and also the Quanum Q-2D . If so, then Tarot sells all of the spare parts for their gimbal products. Even though I really...

My first build it yourself build.

Your listed supplier for the F450 bundle states: "Complete Bundle", but (and unless I'm missing something) there doesn't seem to be any mention whatsoever of motors or ESC's? Are they actually included?? All I see is the frame itself (which includes power distribution PCB), and the flight...

Just for fun: Meet Gustav, the mighty vulture!

Hah! Nice! Your "Gustav the Vulture" is far more graceful and elegant in the air than ol' "Eddie the Eagle" that us Brits used to have (incidentally, did I hear correctly that Eddie is now being trained to attack/bring down drones, rather than fly using them for assistance, a la Gustav?!? :p)

Sanity Check on Aisle 5, Please!

First hurdle overcome - So the HobbyKing Gimbal Controller appears to require a Silicon Labs VCP Driver update (USB to UART Bridge) before it can be properly accessed via USB on a Mac (OSX El Capitan v:10.11.3)… I've managed to clear the EEPROM now, and have both a red and green glowing LED on...

Sanity Check on Aisle 5, Please!

Thanks Jackson. I tried that earlier this afternoon, thanks to this video (and on the Radio's OSD I can see the 3-way switch responding). For some reason, the LibrePilot wizard won't allow me to configure any of the Aux/Acc switches (other than the Flight Mode/Gear switch). I'm sure there's a...

Sanity Check on Aisle 5, Please!

Had fun putting the frame together last night - not very difficult at all, and went together pretty well overall. My ignorance of these things (and all things electronic) is starting to shine through though… Setting up the CC3D controller with LebrePilot was very straightforward (though for...

    Openpilot

I've just ordered a CC3D from HobbyKing, and just yesterday downloaded OpenPilot's 15.02.02 sw (they state that the CC3D controller is not supported under their latest release 15.05.02, and as you rightly mention) Perhaps try directly accessing their download page here...

Sanity Check on Aisle 5, Please!

They do offer spare arms, but I haven't read many reviews of those breaking, so didn't order any. The later generation arms have a carbon rod insert through them, so I guess there may have been a problem with earlier model arms breaking, and this was deemed the appropriate fix?
