Newbie planning build... a few questions...

Your list looks pretty good... I started with a spreadsheet sim to yours, however, have gone over my costs etc, stuff like bullet connectors, extra motor mounts and props, due to chipping from testing/flipping, although I am still only around the £200 mark... beats spending near £1000 on s...

Newbie planning build... a few questions...

What is your servo for? Rotating the camera or are you retracting landing gear? Also, have a look at the E-Calc page noted above... have a play with different motors and prop configurations... I was very impressed by the figures for 4 blade props! I'm well happy with my charger so far... had...

Newbie planning build... a few questions...

If you lost power to the motors, the battery would still have plenty of power to operate the controls... it's just that you have no control... I am considering installing some kind of parachute system, in case of failure, I could perhaps manage a softer landing... using a channel on the Tx/Rx to...

Newbie planning build... a few questions...

Yourawhat? The second battery is to drive the electric motors, however, a second feed is provided for the receiver from the control board... I suspect you may have been using gas motors in your past experience, which would negate the requirement for the large battery packs

    Build on the cheap

MM. Does this mean they are preprogrammed for lower voltage operation without cutting out for Quads's? What voltage for a 3s? Sam. Your kit sounds ok to me... just the battery needs more power to spin those motors fast enough - 3S...buy two if you can... you can run 2 batteries for longer...

    Anyone got battery recomendations?

Yeah... 3 bladed props don't amy real benefit anywhere... something I looked into a while ago, but the numbers on the 4 blades are sweet! may start looking at fans

    Anyone got battery recomendations?

Have been messing about with the calculator... 4 blade props can give 84% and good flight time... interesting... not really much gain with 3 blades... I've ordered a set of plastic red/green props 1047 for learning to fly... and have a set of 11 inch CF coming from China... be lucky to get them...

    Anyone got battery recomendations?

Good reply, thanks! Looks like I can go as high as a pair of 4500's if I needed long flight time... and perhaps my life battery is not doing so bad. calculator My props have chunks out of them... no point even balancing them... but they give an idea of what the chopper is doing for set up...

    Anyone got battery recomendations?

Hi... I have tried a LiFE 30-40c 3400mAH 3 cell 9.9v unit, which powers up and runs my quad ok, but it's not good... lasts about a 3 mins at 30%-50% power, before 1st ESC trips out on low power @ about 8.4 volts. 30 amp Red Brick ESC... so I'd never trust this battery for flying... So, I'm...

Newbie planning build... a few questions...

Thanks for that... interesting... I purchased a Life type battery, due to it seeming to be somewhat less dangerous... Is there a calculator for Life batteries? cheers Ian

Newbie planning build... a few questions...

Hi there... more questions! Batteries: I have 4 x 25A 920Kv motors, and 4 x 30a ESC's... what is the best battery for this setup? I understand that 20C = 20A draw.... however, this system could draw 100A... Do I need a 100C battery? I may have this completely wrong! Also, 3S vs 4S.... how...

    Prop Style

OK, thanks for that... I really did guess that there was a tried and tested reason for this.... PS: I could have sworn I posted a "reply" here last night, with a link to some info I found... that would have sent barking up the complete wrong tree, so good info, thanks!

    Prop Style

Is there a reason that all the Quad's I've seen only use 2 blade props? I am pondering this subject as a means to getting a little more lift/volt... Perhaps 2 blade is more efficient, is this correct? I do understand that 3 blade will be a little heavier, however, this might be reduced by the...

Newbie planning build... a few questions...

Thanks, I had a look at the Naz system a few days ago... liked it then, and as it's now been recommended, I may try and make it my goal for the Mk2 build after saving a little £££ I decided, as it's my first build, and I'm doing this one on the cheap, I found a simple board for a low price...

Newbie planning build... a few questions...

Hi there... I am planning abuild... I've gone ahead and bought a Quattro 4x20a motor controller... that's all I have so far (super low price... couldn't resist!). I am planning on a "H" style Quad, and am pretty comfortable with the build... the unit, once it's had problems worked out, (and I...
