thanks man. I was able to bind the rx on FC to my taranis. For some reason though I needed to set the external rf mode on my taranis to PPM rather than the DSM2/DSMx mode which I originally assumed was needed. Thanks again though this really made my day!

Thats a good point I haven't even considered using an avr chips on a quad. I have a decent amount of experience in programming them with assembly instructions. Don't know much about arduino coding though.
