When to replace motors - one at a time as they die or all at once?

Hi,

I have a Blade Nano QX, fun to fly.

I've racked up about 10 hours on it, and a motor died. Someone on Reddit said the rated lifespan was about 10 hours for those motors, which sounds reasonable for a micro brushed motor (?)

Should I go ahead and replace all the motors now, and keep a track of the hours on the new motors... and look to replace around the next 10 hour mark?

Or should I just replace the broken one, and keep doing that as needed? (Could an old motor hold back the performance.. ?)

Hi mate as they are coreless motors and are cheap, I would change 4 at a time as your have one good motor a 3 warn, the FCB will it fly it level, but it may not be long before another one goes
 
Thanks, I have purchased some CL-0615-11 (medium speed) to have a go.

I am interested in how these motors affect battery life for the Eflite 150mah 45C. I really wanted to buy some mylipo 205mah but they were sold out.

The Bayang X9 use 6mm motors as well..those are super cheap...something like $6.00 for a set of 4....longer run tikes equals more heat which effect the motor..Its not so much how a motor effects a battery but how a battery effects the motors..205 mah should be ok as an upgrade but i would let the motors cool before flying another battery through them...Even with a stock battery, you should do that.
 
Cool. Have you tried the Bayang X9 6mm motors and props with Nano QX? I bought some (awaiting shipping....) for the X9 but I will try them in the nQX as well. If I know they are good I will order more now because of the month+ shipping times
 
I cant say i have..The bayang x9 is a "clone" of the nQX..Actually, the best of the clones and extremely popular...If you ever decide to try one out ,its highly recommended...I have an x9 myself and ,its one of my 2 favorites right now..Its extremely stable but not intended for much wind outdoors due to its super light weight, at only 19.5g with stock battery.

I have purchased a couple Bayang X9's and look forward to trying them out when they arrive :)
Shame can't bind it to my DX6 though
 
It really depends what you are using, I have had a little quads where one motor last as long as 5 of it's neighbors 2 inches from it. If you are flying a small quad that is not going to be damaged by a small fall then I'd replace them as they go, but if you have a bit bigger one that might be damaged in a fall, then replace them all as preventative maintenance.
