I wonder how many of you know that DJI will replace your drone with a refurbished one?


After I received the worst after-sales service from DJI, I was browsing the drone forums and I found this. https://bbs.dji.com/thread-175934-1-1.html (The original post was in mandarin)

The guy sent his drone for repair and received a drone with half refurbished parts. If you scroll down you can see the pictures that the refurbished drone has his QR code sticker on the top and other guy's sticker on the side.

Also, you can not get a refurbished drone in some cases like your drone lost in the ocean, even if it's a hardware malfunction (which I don't think they will admit it). So for some beach lovers (like me), this program may not be as effective as you thought.

Thanks for posting this. I've been considering getting a Mavic Air and have just started looking into things like the warranty and DJI care. Based on some other posts I read after your earlier one, I think if I get one, I'll be calling my insurance company to add it to my valuable item policy like I do with my some of my camera gear. Seems like a cheaper, more effective option.

Regarding refurbished vs. new - I've never replaced a quad before but I've received refurbished items for cameras and GPS running watches (back in the day when they were expensive) and had no issues, but I can see how some may not like that.

I normally skip all the extra warranty business. I was advised by a fried to get AppleCare when I got a new Macbook Pro 3-4 years back. Worked great until the second year. Then the video started to go. After they replaced 2 video cards, which would have been $500-$600 each, they eventually replied the entire laptop (almost 3K) for a new one. Fine ever since, plus I ended up with the newer model. I figure for $300 on AppleCare, I definitely got my money's worth. Doesn't look like DJI Care is nearly as good, but still considering.

Same here, I'd rather buy a new one than pay extra money for a refurbished one.
