Ticking noise from Motor when connected to battery, Motor ceased to Rotate.

Hello,

I have DYS 20Amp ESC, which when connected separately to DYS motor runs smoothly. I have performed Throttle Range Calibration, ESC is responding perfectly.

All ESC's were connected to Controller Board and gave perfect connection for Quad + configuration (along with Tx and Rx interfaced). When connecting 4s battery to the entire setup, One of the Motor is producing an Tic-Tic- Tic noise continuously. Arming operation is happening. The motor which is Ticking is not rotating, rest of the 3 motors are rotating when Throttle is increased.

Im not sure where the problem can be. Below are my config of my components used.

1. DYS 20Amp ESC

2. KK 2.1 FLight controller with LCD

3. DYS motors with 750KV, 350W

4. HK Transmitter & Rx, T6A V2 :

5. Nano Tech Lipo 4s, 4500maH, 35C. Also tried with Nano Tech Lipo 3S, 2200maH, 25C.

Please let me know if you need more details. Im not able to converge on this issue. Have you guys also ever faced such a problem ? What can be cause of this issue ? Thank you all ....
 
I've never seen this in my experience, so I went to go research the problem and the first result in Google is you getting the problem resolved on DIY Drones! Nice! Sounds like it was a bad connection between the battery and ESC.

Also - what specific DYS motor (model number) are you using and what size props will you be using? I don't know the exact max amps of the motor based on what you provided, but I would think a 20A ESC is going to be too small for a 750kv motor with 4s since you'll need to apply a lot of volts and use pretty big props. Once you put props on that thing, you might burn up the ESC.
 
Hi mate i second what mm said the esc has a main job to do and that is convert the dc voltage from your battery to a 3 phase ac voltage, if you loose any one of the 3 phase the motor will tic or when throttle is added rock back and forth worse case do nothing , so check for a dry joint from esc to motor .
i also think you may need a 30a esc i will put a link on here for ecalc try your set up in there and it will tell you if its going to work

Yes, you guys are right. Even we are afraid that ESC may die once we mount it.

I dont know the exact rating of DYS motor with me. Its used motor/ESC's by my friend which Im using for now. Is there any way to find the rating for the motor ?

We are planning to use 7 x 3.8 Prop , so that load can be brought down. We have make the quad with this available components. So pls suggest if there is any work around for this.

Comparing the motor with website images, following can be specs of the motor :

Yeah, if the motor has any markings, you can usually find the specs. DYS posts most of the specs on their website, but it's hard to find their site sometimes since they don't sell anything directly. For reference, it is:

For this motor, DYS actually recommends a pretty big prop - 10x5 and I'd go 3S batteries to ensure you get the thrust you need.

They also recommend a 40A ESC. If you go with the 7 inch prop, you may not get enough lift to take off. Do you know what setup your friend was using with the motor?
 
Hello MM,

Today I was trying to take off my quad ( with specs as mentioned in the 1st post above) with 8x4.5 Props. But the vehicle Flipped away. It was not at all taking off (never Hovered) but flipped off .

What could be the potential reason for it ?
 
HI mate check that the wiring from receiver to fc board is right and have you done a calibration of the board so it knows what level is are motors turning right way if front left is cw front right is ccw, back left ccw back right cw try this and let me know mate
