First post, so I apologise if I do anything wrong here.
Right then. As with many people you guys probably get here, I'm attempting build a quad. You've probably seen the rough idea before, ESC connected to arduino, that kind of thing.
I purchased these cheap ESC off ebay a few months ago, and after a few days of trying to get something out of them (a beep), I gave up, chucked them in a box, and forgot about them (I'm studying a masters in astrophysics so had a few more important things to do!)
ESC: (I have four)

Today I thought I'd give it another go. I found this code:
http://www.instructables.com/id/ESC-Programming-on-Arduino-Hobbyking-ESC/?ALLSTEPS
I understand this isnt the exact ESC I'm using, and I dont have any more information on this ESC than what I have been given in the manual, which has no information on what I need to do in my case. I wasnt expecting anything first go anyway. After a few hours of trying anything I can think of I have turned to you guys to ask what I'm doing wrong.
I am not getting any beeps or lights, and the instructions that came with the ESC are.. hopeless in my case.
As you cans see, (and fully expect to be told), I have no idea what I'm doing. If someone chooses to tell me to shove all this stuff back in a box and forget about it, I can understand and appreciate the feedback
If anyone has some simple arduino code that might work, I'd be greatly appreciative (programmer in a past life)
If this has been answered, I apologise, I had a long look around the site and couldnt see anything that resembled my particular situation.
All I really need to do is figure these ESC out, the rest shouldnt be that much of an issue.
What I have done:
Googled it - how I found this forum
Tried connecting things at different times (ie, power first, data line first)
Used a multimeter to get output voltages of the three ESC output wires.
Equipment used:
Arduino Uno
The above ESC
Standard sealed lead acid power supply (good condition)
Fluke 87 multimeter
Dell 960 with appropriate software
Thanks heaps for any help, and if I've crossed any boundaries here, feel free to flame me and tell me to bugger off
