Snaptain S5C - Micro SD question

I just got a new Snaptain S5C drone for Father's Day. Love it so far. Very steady and easy to handle for a cheaper drone.

Question on video storage: I did install a Micro SD card, however my videos are saving on my phone. Is the MicroSD only used when the drone is flown without the phone/app? I'm finding zero guidance online or in the instructions.

This page seems to indicate it is actually storing the vids on the SD card and just streaming to the app but yah manual leaves a lot to be desired looks like a fun quad though for sure https://drones-camera.com/snaptain-accessories-replacement-parts-era-app/
