Recommendations - Feature questions

I've been shopping or a while, and it's getting more and more confusing. I'm looking for a quadcopter with FPV that has a decent quality camera and preferable not WiFi. I would like to be able to fly it indoors and out. With a good range. And ultimately, down the road, I would love to be able to set it up to control through my PC. I have a decent budget, but I don't want to waste my money. Questions...

- Is the headless flying feature good/worthwhile? How does that work with a built in camera/FPV where direction is important?

- Does auto-return take the shortest path back? Or retrace your path, will work indoors? Would I need GPS to retrace the path?

- Are there any that are quieter than others? I have a young son who hates my drill :/

- Where is a good place to buy them online? Amazon is my default but some of the models aren't available on Prime and may take a month to deliver. And the ones that don't have all the features I can get delivered tomorrow.

- Should I consider a kit for a first quadcopter?

Any suggestions and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well it would be best to start with a cheapy to get the hang of it. It takes some getting used to, no reason to ruin a decent rig learning. You will crash often when learning.

The cheap ones are also quite durable, crash away.

Don't know where you live, this is USA ship.

You can sit in your living room and learn the basics of flight.

This is a great slightly larger quad, but it might be a month before you get it. A very smooth flyer.
