Picking a Transmitter

I just ordered a Arris FPV 250, I have a SYMA 5C 1 that I practice with now and expect to purchase more. Recommended is the Spektrum DX6 with the AR610 receiver. Is this a good way to go to get started, I plan to add GPS capability as a next step and would like to build a V Tail.

Any help on how to keep my transmitter compatible with the various receivers as I purchase more would be appreciated. Can I link the Spektrum to the SYMA?
 
That's the one, later on the website they revile that its a composite and not full carbon fiber

Ordered this transmitter and receiver, met a racer last night and they said it had alot more features.
Maybe someone else has linked the SYMA to another transmitter, not a big deal but would be convenient

You got the the best one for the money imo! That's the same I have and I could not imagine having anything else.

Then that's not the kit you got, they offer a cheaper composite version (clearly labeled as such).

The Arris X-Speed is pure CF and looks like one hell of a frame (closer to 270mm though).

This guy loved the kit (maybe too much). In the comments he also has a great explanation of the offered Arris (1806) vs. Emax (2204) motors and why the smaller Arris Motors are the best choice. A very nice analysis.


Oscar Liang also reviewed the frame and used it for a build, with no mention of it not being pure CF.
 
Right I got the composite, did not know a full CF was available, probably best to wait till after a few crashes/ Waiting by the mail box for everthing to arrive, may need some help getting everything set up. This should be fun

Looks like a really nice Tx too, relatively cheap to do all it does too.
 
Got the transmitter but it looked used so I am sending back, seems to be a reputable place so should not be an issue. I have been looking into setups and it reminds me of and old machine language programming book "Nailing Jelly to the Wall". Is there a book or guidance some where which can bring me up to speed on linking and programming this beast, most of the applications are for airplanes or helicopter. There seem to be some available for Quadcopters but how do I choose, they are not really for my model, and what adjustments should or will I need to make?

The manual that comes with it is very disappointing, really making me question if I should get this unit, could just return and get another.

Watch a few FCB programming vids, the flight controller neither needs nor wants heli mode. Airplane (or acro) is what they use.

You still have some gains, switches and things that need configured, not to get you off the ground, but if you want to use more than your 4 channels.
 
I did find a manual online that is more detailed, also thanks for the videos and such, I am an information junkie and will review everything then start to experiment. I am starting to get the terminology down and seeing a little light through the fog. I first need to get my transmitter in hand, vendor says they come looking used from frsky?? I like all the features of the X9D but the complexity is a bit much, I am going to a nearby hobby shop that seems to do a lot of Quadcopter business and see if they can hook me up for the weekend. My local shop is very good but does not seem interested in Quadcopters or my business.

They may test them before hand with a field test. Ahhhh, my dream job right there, unless your just hooking them to a testing tool.
 
They just said they come looking used and not properly packed, I really don't this this is true. My worry is I will waste alot of time on a transmitter that was returned because it did not work or is damages. I paid for new within the US and that is what I want.
 
I guy I just met is a photographer for Honda, now they dumped the task of taking pictures and videos of all the models at their test track? Poor guy, outside at a noisy track all day flying.. I wish
