I've been flying fixed-wing for years and enjoy that a lot. For my fixed wing planes, I have used a mode 1 transmitter. Years ago I got some mini coax helicopters and eventually got a MSR as well, and because I already used mode 1 I tried flying mode 1 with these too. But I never really got the hang of it so gave up and stuck with planes.
Fast forward to now and I really want to get into Quad's, but am worried about the troubles I had with my mode 1 heli experiences.
I decided to practice with a simulator and got Freerider FPV working with a xbox controller (and will eventually get my existing transmitter working with it) and I decided to play with mode 1 vs mode 2 with the quad in the sim, since it's easy to swap. I found I seemed to much prefer mode 2 for quad flying in the Sim, even though I'm a mode 1 guy for planes (it seemed to make sense to my brain that the roll and pitch on one stick for the quad). Oh dear.
So what do I do? Buy two transmitters, one for planes and one for quads? Get a tx that is quick to switch between the two modes depending on what I'm flying? Train myself to use mode 1 for both planes and helis, or retrain myself to use mode 2 for planes and learn quad's on mode 2? Or should I just use a mode 1 transmitter and learn mode 3 for my quads (which would mean much less configuration change between mode 1 and 3 on the tx).
I'm looking for suggestions and ideas from those who are experienced in what you think might be the best way to go here.
