Hello everyone

Hello, I'm new to Quadcopters and recently bought a Syma x5c-1 and have fallen I love with the hobby. I have probably 10 beginner flights under my belt with just flying basic maneuvers like flying forward, left, right and bringing it back to me. I haven't tried the yaw and have seem videos on YouTube how to master that skill and am still very unsure of it because then everything is backwards, patience is a virtue I guess. I was on another forum and it seems the people over there are a little stuck up with regards to not helping or giving proper advice, instead they say to get a better copter like the phantom. So I just wanted to say hello and hope this forum is better.

Hi Kloudz , well come to the forum, as for yaw, if your quads is stable in a hover , yaw should be stable as well , give the quad height and when its stable give it a yaw command , if it starts to do some thing strange you have height to get control, if you stop the quad so its nose in then yes thing will be back to front , you dont have to have a pricey quad for it to fly well , I am not well up on toy quads as I moved on to hobby grade a long time back , but saying this I still have 3 toy quads and another one coming
Flying a quad is like any new hobby takes practise and time to learn and a few crashes(we all crash)some of the new quads use headless mode which means the quad will follow the stick command no matter which way its facing ,makes flying easy but learn the old school way once you master nose in your never forget how to , and you can they fly any quad it does not have to have headless mode or like the phantom IOC

Thanks for the reply, yeah I figure it'd be I my best interest to learn to fly this quad and learn as much as I can and hone in on skills that will pave the way for the rest of the hobby.

Your spot on , it will take time the younger you are the faster your learn , start by giving a small angel to the quad so you get used to see it side on and as you master that make the angel bigger till its nose in

Ok will do, so of being young can accomplish it quickly then I'm in the middle of the road and it'll take me about a month of flying to get it down. I also have a question about batteries. The one that came with my quad is mediocre at best, what other batteries are out there that will fit my quad and give me longer flight times? Is there a better charger out there as well so I don't have to use the usb charger that it came with?

As for the battery you have to stay at 3.7v but the bigger mah will help flight times , look at banggood .com they are good for upgrade parts
Jackson is very helpful on these quads may be he can help you send him a message

Sure you can get bigger than the Syma 500Mah batteries. But don't expect miracles when it comes to flight times. You are limited to what will fit.

If you live in the USA this may be a good option @ 720mAh. They should add ~1.5 minutes extra fly time. Once you get better you can pull the prop guards, less weight and wind resistance will also increase flight times.

A better deal if you can wait on China.

Always a good idea to have a spare charger as the the stock one is not very robust.

Spend some time here, some good info.

And Welcome to the party.

Ahh, so your the infamous "jackson" haha, anyway thank you for responding, are those chargers any good as compared to a 'real' hobby charger?
