First time flyer

Whatsup guys. Brand new to the drone experience and anxiously awaiting from my first drone to arrive in the mail. I really want to build my own but after doing TONS of reading onlone every article says to order a cheap drone to learn the basics of flying before even attempting to build or much less fly a home put-together drone. I ordered the tarantula x6 because I read alot of good things about the agility of it and the ease of replacing motors. I also wanted somethin that would allow me to play around with putting my gopro on it, but that wont be it's main purpose. Super excited and can't wait to dip my toes in the world of multirotors. Any advice? Wish me luck!
 
Since you have the tarantula you should get a little JJRC 1000 for practicing with inside. You can fly it with your tarantula transmitter and they are dirt cheap ($16.66) http://www.banggood.com/JJRC-1000A-...pter-BNF-p-926458.html?p=2O21111526893201504H but a very good micro quad, real smooth and quiet. Might be better to train with the JJRC before getting to gung ho with the tarantula. Its a pretty big bird and could give someone or something a fair whack if or rather when you crash. lol

Thanks for the advice! It just arrived at my office. Gonna have to go to radio shack and get a adapter for the European charger it came with (wierd) .
 
Well I didn't get back for a while but I'm about 5 flights in (no time for hobbies right now do to buying a new house and trying to pack everything) but I finally got to test out my gopro and got a video posted to youtube. Getting ready to start ordering parts to build my own. This tarantula is an absolute joy to fly. Imo you can't beat or for 50 bucks.

What you planning to build ? something quick or something for Aerial photography ?

Wanting to build something similar to what quadmovr does on youtube. I realize that I will not be able to build something with the same performance, but as close as I can get anyway. Any suggestions on where to start? Hoping to stay under 300 not including fpv. I burned up one if the motors on the tarantula already after just 6 flights so I am getting ready to go ahead and build something so I am not constantly changin out those brushed motors
 
Hello and good evening! I am another newbie signing in. First let me say that I might be the oldest newbie as I am a couple of years away from retirement from the steel industry and looking forward to a new pasttime. I raced slot cars on commercial tracks, moved to electric and gas powered cars and recently got away from all free time activities. I got bitten by the drone bug a few months ago and dove in. I have three starter models and still learning how to "trim" them for a stable hover. No questions now, just a little introduction. Look forward to joining you all in a little tech talk.
