First FPV Setup

Ok. So the SJ camera looks good, but if I'm looking for two different cameras, I think I'd want an FPV camera a bit cheaper than the SJ, and also a bit smaller (I don't have a very big quad). In one of the videos that you posted, they showed the (http://www.securitycamera2000.com/p...WDR-Color-Board-Camera-OSD-Menu-DNR%2dUS.html) board camera. I did some looking around, and it has very good reviews (and low latency), it's very small, and it's pretty cheap...... Would you recommend that?

Ok, after some more looking around, I found the (http://www.amazon.com/surveillance-...qid=1448850018&sr=8-1&keywords=RunCam+PZ0420M) which seems to be the newer model of the camera I mentioned in the previous comment. I also found this transmitter (http://www.amazon.com/Boscam-5-8Ghz...id=1448766098&sr=8-3&keywords=fpv+transmitter) that I think will work with it. Now, all I need is a receiver (and maybe a screen).

That camera and that transmitter will work together won't they?

Do you have any suggestions for a receiver?

I don't really know what screen to use. I have a couple computer monitors, but they operate off 19v, which I can't draw from a car battery or a battery pack. Also, all of the receivers that I've found have a 3 plug out video cable, which none of my monitors support, and I don't know what it's called, so I don't know how to search for a screen that can fit it. Any suggestions for a reasonably good screen that is not too expensive? Also, what is that plug called?

Ok. I think I've found something that will work:

Screen/goggles: (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__53706__Quanum_DIY_FPV_Goggle_Set_with_Monitor_KIT_.html) I like these because you can use them as goggles or just a screen. Also, they're great value!

Any thoughts on this list? I think I'll be about $110 total. I just want to make sure they'll work together.

Yeah, I saw that. I think that if what I found will work, it would be a better setup for a slightly larger price. I'm just trying to confirm that those parts I found will work together.....

Ok. I just realized that I need batteries! I think that I need a battery for the tx, a battery for the rx, and a battery for the screen. I need a 12v for the tx, a 12v for the rx, and a 12v for the screen. My question is, what mah amount do I need. Any suggestions for batteries. So I need 3 12v batteries.

UPDATE: The rx says 200mA max working current, and the tx says 220mA working current (doesn't say max). The goggles don't say anything about mA's.

most run the fpv off the quads battery its plugs into the balance lead , the transmitter can also run off the quads battery, Rx needs 12 volt so 3cell 1500 should be ok , googles are 7-13volts so look at the 2 - 3 cell battery , ask George to check this for me he is better on this just message him http://quadcopterforum.com/members/gjh105775.340/

How do you attach the tx the balance lead? The balance lead has 4 plugs and the power lead from the tx has only 2. The way that it's made, you can't connect them (It's a 2 plug JST lead). So how do you attach them?

On the camera your looking at it has a lead that plugs into the balance lead of the battery its the small white plug , for the transmitter you can solder a short lead with a JST plug on it to where the quad gets its power from PDB or loom

Since I've been having some issues with flight time, I would like to buy a separate battery for my tx. I have a 12v 3s 1500mah battery that I can use for my rx, but I want to be able to tape a battery to the goggles so I can move my head around, so it must be small. if you are drawing 220mA, then a 220mAh battery would work for an hour under perfect conditions. Add 10% efficiency loss and you have 242mAh needed to run for an hour, add in that you can only use ~85% of your battery capacity safely means you's need about a 300mAh battery. I'd get a 1500mAh just to be safe, and you can use the 1500mAh for other things later. If you are running a screen or goggles you are going to need a bit bigger battery.

How much are you going to be drawing on the screen? I use a 3000mAh battery on the ground, for two reasons. First is so that it never goes dead, second is that I can use it on a quad or plane if I choose.

I think the goggles draw about 200mA at 12v. This means that I could use the battery that I found earlier and get a good amount of time from it right?

I guess I'll just pick up a (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__9465__Turnigy_3300mAh_3S_20C_Lipo_Pack.html) to power my receiver and I can also use it for my Apprentice plane (seeing as I destroyed my apprentice battery earlier ;( ). I guess I'll also get 2 of those batteries I found earlier for the goggles and tx because they're lightweight?

That'd last plenty of time and be useful for a quad. I suggest you get one with an XT60, or some other more used connector.
