Had to happen.
Gtune is gone. No longer an option in the cleanflight mode set up.
Plugged in my quad and re flashed with the spracingf3 hex and...would not fly at all.
Default settings are for some guy working on the GUI who wants everyone to do what he does. Fly race drones at max settings all out.
Default is ppm for transmitter. If you fly PWM, you need to reset this.
Default for ESC is oneshot. If you do not have it you need to reset it.
Default for channel map is frsky. you need to reset it if that is not your settings.
Default for EXPO is OFF on all channels. A real eye opener the first time you touch the sticks. If you are not an expert pilot, you will have to play multiple guess to find something that doesn't send your quad screaming into a building at the slightest touch of the stick on all three channels, yaw, pitch, roll.
Default on pids were too high for my quad. Had to lower P for pitch and roll so it didn't wobble around like a bowl of jello while hovering.
They did give us "anti gravity" mode. I will let you you tube it. The very small percentage of you who will use it, ie, when your throttle is increased by 35 percent on a punch, might find it a good trade off for loosing Gtune. The rest of us, not so much. We will now have to spend more time learning how to tune instead of fly. yea.
You need to do anything you will have to reflash and start from scratch. I had two quads, both flying well. Now i have one and will spend the next few days trying to make it fly well. The other will no longer connect to Cleanflight after reflashing it even with the boot pins jumped. Problem was with the FC? maybe. Would never have been a problem at all if i did not have to reflash to adjust a flight mode.
My overall opinion? Well, i lost one flight controller and will have to spend the next few days learning how to tune PID's if i want to fly at all because i wanted to change the flight mode on one of my quads. I have wasted a week already trying to get the other controller working and finally ordered a new one. Took something i found useful away (gtune), gave me something i might use someday, but not this year or next (antigravity) and sent us all back to ZERO. My over all opinion is "sucks".
Hate to sound redundant, but (backwards compatible?) Or at least a way to import our current settings?
How about an upgrade that doesn't send us all back to ZERO just to adjust something minor? More good news, Cleanflight is actually gone. This is Betaflight with the Cleanflight GUI pasted on it. Normally, people played with stuff in Betaflight and when it was solid, it was incorporated into cleanflight. Now, who knows. You might get another "upgrade" in a week sending us back to ZERO all over again.
If i sound pissed it is because i am sitting here waiting for batteries to recharge so i can play with pid and expo settings instead of flying thanks to an "upgrade" that caused me personally more problems than it solved. BTW? I didn't have any problems up until i plugged my quad into cleanflight and it went to CLI mode and said i needed to reflash. That is where my problems started.
